Unique raised dog feeder, of black wrought-iron, and personalized with your pet's name, will not only compliment any decor but (with added *personalization) will declare to the world that your special dog is an Ameri-Canine Idol™, a Superstar "pooch-on-a-pedestal". The Ameri-Canine Idol™ words/Dog are sandblasted into the 4" High, 3/8"-thick glass...to give it a frosted look. All exposed edges are iced-edged to a smooth finish, so there are no sharp edges, and the glass is permanently set in its iron slot. Feet are rubber-capped. Unlike wood, wrought-iron will not rot, making for a sturdy, long-lasting feeder. Available in Small, Medium and Large (Medium feeder shown in photo above). Makes a unique gift for your special pooch, and all the dog lovers in your life!

Since the glass insert is 3/8" thick, should the feeder accidentally tip over, rest assured the glass insert will not easily break.

Stainless steel bowls included (bowls are not copper, as they may appear in photos, depending on your browser).

Please measure your pet’s wither height (ground to top of front shoulder - click doberman photo below) to determine the proper feeder height. The suggested feeder height for larger dogs is approximately 6" below the wither height. For smaller dogs, the suggested feeder height is approximately 3" below the wither height.

Besides enhancing your home decor, raised feeders offer some unique health benefits as well.

Promotes proper digestion

Elevated pet feeders help promote proper digestion and comfortable eating posture in dogs and cats. Eating bent over forces dogs to gulp their food. In the process, dogs swallow more air. An elevated pet feeder eases the swallowing of food by raising the food bowl to a more comfortable eating height; therefore, less gulping and less ingestion of air. Excessive air ingested while feeding stooped over may cause painful gas and indigestion in your pet.

More comfortable feeding for arthritic or senior pets

Elevated feeders are more comfortable for older pets. Dogs with arthritis and cats with arthritis also benefit from elevated feeders. Bending over to eat isn't comfortable for pets with stiff muscles or sore joints, particularly for pets with neck or back problems such as intervertebral (IV) disc disease.

Older pets often eat less anyway, which means they may not get the nutrition they need. If eating is painful or uncomfortable, they are likely to eat even less. Raising food and water to their level encourages eating and drinking.

Cleaner feeding area

Elevated dishes help keep the food and water in the bowls and not on the floor. They prevent cats from playing in their water, which some are prone to do. Dogs tend to lift their heads after taking a drink to facilitate swallowing. As a dog raises its head, water that doesn't make it down their throat often ends up on the floor. Over time this can ruin your floor. Moisture that may get under the dish creates a great place for molds and bacteria to grow. With an elevated feeder, they don't have to raise their heads as far and the water usually drips right back into their water dish.

For the physically handicapped or persons with arthritis or back problems, elevated feeders can make a big difference. They will appreciate not having to bend over as far to pick up or fill water and food dishes.
